A comically silent fight, both using their full weight to shove and climb over each other while they ordered, they loudly whispered demands into the receiver, (No mushrooms!) (Yes mushrooms!) (Just do half then!) Richie’s mother gets up for the restroom, passing with eyes closed so she hadn’t seen the two tangled boys pause their struggle. The door closes and Eddie turns to Richie, “What do we do when the pizza guy gets here?” he asks thinking a few steps ahead a little too late, but Richie laughs, “We’re being quiet out of respect, not fear, Eds, it’s okay.” Eddie hadn’t realized the difference until just then. The two homes were polar opposites. And Richie always made sure to remind him that he’s safe here. He can exist here. He doesn’t have to hide, here. So he shares a little “thanks for the reminder” ☺️
